SmackDown Women’s Champion, Carmella before her Triple Threat Match

It was another epic SummerSlam in NYC shooting behind the scenes with Kareem Black. The highest-grossing and most-viewed SummerSlam saw the crowning of 4 new champions, as Roman Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar to capture the Universal Championship, Ronda Rousey overcame Alexa Bliss to capture the Raw Women’s Championship, Charlotte Flair took down Becky Lynch & Carmella in a Triple Threat Match to capture the SmackDown Women’s Championship, and Seth Rollins bested Dolph Ziggler to capture the Intercontinental Championship. We were there to document it all.

Charlotte Flair laces up before her match

Charlotte Flair won her record-tying 7th Women’s Championship, defeating Carmella and Becky Lynch for the SmackDown Women’s Title. The crowd was chanting for the underdog, Becky Lynch to capture the title. However, Becky came up short in the match, and she was visibly upset. Then, after sharing a hug with her best friend, Charlotte in the center of the ring, she snapped and turned on her. It was one of the best matches of the night for 3 of the hardest working women.

Ronda Rousey captures the RAW Women’s Championship

One of the most anticipated matches of the night was Ronda Rousey vs Alexa Bliss. There’s no competitor like Ronda Rousey, and she put that on display at SummerSlam. Ronda Rousey views this championship as the carrying of the torch for the WWE Women’s Division past and present. She was accompanied by her best friend, Natalya who recently lost her father Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart. It was good to see Natalya there to experience the love and support from the Superstars, crew and fans.

Dolph Ziggler superfan, The Fat Jewish rocks a custom airbrushed sweatsuit

Although The Fat Jewish brought his Dolph Ziggler spirit to the Barclays Center, it wasn’t enough for Dolph to retain the title. Seth Rollins regained the Intercontinental Championship in a thriller of an opening contest. The Demon rose as Finn Bálor unleashed his unsettling alter ego. Roman Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar in a chaotic contest to finally vanquish The Beast and win the Universal Championship. And after 8 years of bad blood, The Miz defeated Daniel Bryan in a highly personal battle. All around a great show with so much to capture for the website and social media.
